Founders of religious or spiritual traditions, prophets, saints, popes, caliphs in their religious capacity, theologians and mystics whose primary historical significance is religious teaching, reform or leadership. Belongs here: religious founders and reformers, heads of a faith community, and spiritual teachers whose teaching or writing shaped a tradition. Does not belong here: rulers who held a religious title as one function of a largely political office, grouped under Monarchs and Rulers, or philosophers whose work was primarily rational and secular rather than devotional, grouped under Philosophers and Scholars.
