Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was an Austrian composer, conductor and keyboard virtuoso of the Classical period. Born in Salzburg, he displayed prodigious musical talent from early childhood and was touring Europe as a performer by age six. Over a short life he completed more than 800 works, including symphonies, concertos, chamber music, operas and choral music, among them The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute. He is regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music, and his compositions remain among the most performed in the world.
