Figures whose primary historical significance is a voyage, expedition or overland journey of discovery or contact carried out chiefly through exploration rather than governance or conventional warfare. Belongs here: navigators, overland travelers, and conquest-era expedition leaders remembered chiefly for the journey and its consequences.
