1914 to 1945, the opening half of Hobsbawm's Age of Extremes: The Short Twentieth Century, 1914-1991, capped here at 1945 rather than his own 1991 so as not to override this atlas's already-recorded live relationships tying the two World Wars and their surrounding events to this same band, and its own era entity The Contemporary Period already beginning exactly 1945: the assassination that triggered the First World War, its major battles, the Russian Revolution, the Treaty of Versailles and the Weimar hyperinflation it helped set off, the Great Depression, the Bengal Famine, the Holodomor, Gandhi's Salt March, and the Second World War.
