The Late Antique World

The bridge centuries between the classical and medieval worlds, roughly 300 to 700 CE, when the Roman world was transformed by migration and religious change while other civilizations reached a documented peak of their own: the Migration Period in Europe, India's Gupta Golden Age, and the Classic Period of Maya civilization in Mesoamerica. Belongs here: any era whose defining dates fall in this window, whether or not it is conventionally labeled Roman. Does not belong here: the classical Roman world at its height, grouped under The Classical World, or the fully medieval world of the centuries after 700 CE, grouped under The Post-Classical and Medieval World.
